Vacation 2010 - Day 8

After another rainy night, we learned this is the monsoon season for this part of AZ. We were told that it usually occurs about the last week of July, but that is not a guarantee. We should have looked closer at the weather data before we decided on a date for this trip.

We had planned to drive out to the East side of the South rim of the Grand Canyon today, but at the last minute we decided to finish the West trail out to Hermit's Rest. It is amazing how the weather changes within a couple of miles along the rim of the canyon. This trek took a little longer than planned because we took our time looking at things we hadn't been focusing on. Today was also the first day we were able to see a large portion of the Colorado River. Here's a few photos and a video to hold you over until next time.
